When the Sixers traded their 10th overall selection of this year's draft to the Magic in exchange for the "Croatian Sensation" (sorry, had to do it) Dario Saric, little was known about him. In addition to his MVP awards and ability to shoot, Sixers fans should also know this about Saric; he is one tough customer. During a FIBA game against Argentina, Saric was hit in the mouth, causing him to loose six, count them, six teeth. That alone would make any hockey player jealous.
After the injury, Saric was pulled out of the game for approximately eight minuets before re-entering the contest. He finished the game with 16 points to go along with 9 boards - solid numbers in only 26 minuets of playing time. Toughness is always a good characteristic to have, and when it complements skill, that has the making for a player to watch out for. Saric still has trouble on the defensive side of the floor, which he will try to perfect before his debut into the NBA. Speaking of which, he debut is still about two full seasons away. As Sixers fans wait anxiously for what could be a very solid NBA talent, we should take comfort in knowing that Saric has a shot like Peja Stojakovic, the build of Hedu Turkoglu, and the smile of Bobby Clarke.
